This is the beginning of a blog of memories I intend to keep, share & just enjoy plain & simple. There are memories that I've half way forgotten either because they're not the kind that I share often or they're stifled by new ones, funnier ones, or just more urgent ones (as in: REMEMBER TO MAIL THE RENT & GET TOILET PAPER TODAY) - Anyhow, I was thinking about a way to memorialize the things I don't want to forget either as they happen, or as I reflect. My journal is dedicated to how I feel, what I dream about, what I learned ... For a person living a life filled with a million words, I have far too few memories written in word, legible & accounted for.
So! The plan is to blog as many memories as I can of my mother, my mother, my mother ... As well as my son, my lover, my friends who are my extended family, and my actual family comprised by 4 Nephews, 3 Neices, 2 Sisters - their 2 husbands, My Brother, Mom, Dad, SELF and of course My Dog.
A memory for today:
The day of my grandma's funeral. Grandma was the first person I'd ever lost that was really close to me and I'd spent the whole day with family reminiscing, laughing, crying, eating. Afterwards I really just wanted to have a beer with my friends & focus on the here & now. I met them all at the bar where they were celebrating the birthday of my best friend's boyfriend. I'd seen Cody around for a few years, lots of times, places, events & he never struck me as someone I just needed to get to know. Anyhow, I walk in & he's one of the first people I see. I say hey & keep moving toward my friends. I get a beer & start socializing ... lots of beer, drunken conversation, and profession of feelings of likeness later ... Cody & I are making out. In front of a lot of people. Embarrassing. But also fun, sincere, and apparently meant to be. I never thought in a million years that I'd fall in love with the man. I did think he semmed a lot cuter, cooler & more genuine than I had maybe ever given him credit for. But I sort of thought my emotions regarding my grandma & the alcohol might have had something to do with that? ... Until I thought the same about him the next day... And even more so the day after that... And eventually I did fall in love with the man. Where the fu*% did that come from? Don't know. I sort of think my grandma had something to do with it.
